Authoritarianism, Tyranny is Knocking at our Door, Church...What Will You Do?

Last week my wife, daughters, and I took a road trip vacation. We drove through the Appalachians, hit Myrtle Beach for a few days, and continued on through the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and up to Kentucky to visit the Ark Encounter. While Ken Ham and the team admittedly took a creative license in developing this exhibit, it was truly spectacular and gave me great pause and reflection around the amazing grace and mercy God bestows over us.

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

I'm thinking about doing an episode of Light in the D talking about God's sovereignty and the depth of His grace and mercy. He is in control. He is full of grace and mercy. And we are sinful, wretched beings capable of continual evil (Genesis 6:5). We have a choice and a will, "free will" as some call it. Yet our will is not "free" as you may think, it's enslaved to sin. Our will is bad. Really bad. God doesn't owe us anything. Nope. And yet He gave us everything in His Son.

Note in Romans 1:28 what happens when we reject God. Highlight: "Since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind..."

"And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them." Romans 1:28‭-‬32 ESV

We have a choice to acknowledge God. And since when we don't, Paul doesn't write God gives us a debased He gives us up to what is already there. A debased mind. And in that debased mindset, bad things, really bad things happen. Our sinful nature, our will, is bad. It's capable of evil things. Proof in point...just look around the world we live in today. Can I mic drop about here? I'll continue...

I don't have all the answers. I'm not perfect by any means. Like you, I'm a sinner capable of doing horrid things and think horrid thoughts. I'm in need of a Saviour. It's not my family, my job, sports, my friends, binging Netflix, or being liked on Social Media. It's not the state or the government, or a political party. It's not sexual identity. It's not critical race theory. It's not getting the jab or not getting the jab. No.

My Saviour's name is Jesus Christ. He is Lord. And in Him, I have eternal life. John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment.”

If anything has driven the world the last year and a half it's fear. Fear is everywhere. Fear of death. Fear of going outside. Being with people, fear of one another. That's what the spirit of the age wants. That's what Satan wants. And we have bought his lies hook, line, and sinker.

We are at a precipice in this country, and around the world. Authoritarianism and tyranny are on full display and on assault. We were given a gift of freedom in this country unlike no other nation in history. And forgive my language, but we are just pissing it away for comfort and safety. We chose to no longer acknowledge God and so I believe He in His sovereignty has given us up to who we truly are. We are getting the government we deserve, and the amount of tyranny we are willing to comply with...and it won't stop until we say, "No. No more" and acknowledge God, and push back on the spirit of the age.

Jesus will come again. Until then, God's grace and mercy, the Gospel are available to you. It's where true, eternal-lasting freedom and safety are found.

In the meantime, until Jesus comes again, prepare for things to get exceedingly difficult for all of us and the way of life in the U.S. we knew. I'm not being negative. Just being real with you if you're reading this.

Christian Brothers and Sister, get on your knees, pray to the One True, Holy, and Triune God. Put on the whole armor of God (Eph 6) bold, courageous, have no fear. Be the salt and light. Speak the truth in love. Get active and speak out for what is righteous.

What about you Christian Brothers and Sisters? Where are you standing during this time? Authoritarianism and tyranny are at our doorstep. Church, what will you do? What will we do to support one another? Will we divide?

"Divide?" you ask. Here's a real-time scenario:

Look, I'm not here to knock anyone who got the experimental gene therapy. That's what it is, not a true or traditional vaccine. I've done my homework and am happy to respectfully discuss the data and science with anyone. For sake of ease, I'll simply refer to it as the "jab" going forward here.

If the jab numbers in the U.S. are correct (who knows what to believe anymore) then about half the country chose to get the jab, and the other half chose not to get the jab.

I'm a believer that either way, to jab or not to jab, that's your choice and NO ONE should be coerced or forced into getting it. Especially one that is under EUA and not fully tested for long-term adverse effects. The jab is supposed to be therapeutic and does not stop transmission. The CDC admits as much. So if you got the jab, it would make sense no one should feel threatened by the un-jabbed.

EXCELSIOR! No, this is not a Stan Lee Marvel comic.

Thanks to the media and its unrelenting and perpetual cycle of fear-mongering, we are now being told again to mask up and run for the hills due to the new Delta Variant for which cases are high, but hospitalizations and deaths are very low. Since the efficacy of testing is highly questionable, how we know the true case numbers is anyone's guess. But now the Biden administration, who is supposed to serve us, and somehow the unelected and unconstitutional power grab by the CDC (how did that happen?), have decided a jab in every arm no matter the consequences may be mandatory. NYC's Mayor has already committed to what they're calling the "Excelsior Pass". If that doesn't scream, "What a horrible and tyrannical idea!" to you...well, I've got nothing for you.

If "We the People" allow this to continue, and if we've learned nothing from history (see Nazi Germany), well as David Bowie sang in 1985, "This is not America." No matter what you think about the jab's safety or efficacy...this is flat-out Nuremberg Code-style stuff going on here in what once was, America.

So Church, if and when your Brothers and Sisters in Christ who made an informed decision not to get the experimental jab are told they must in order to get or keep their job, buy food, or in the words of NYC Mayor Rick de Blasio, "live a good and full and healthy life," how will you respond? Will you stand by your Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Or look the other way, cover your ears and remain silent?

Please share your thoughts. I hope to address this in an upcoming episode of my podcast, Light in the D.
